Gifts to the Prize

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

Sponsorship of The Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research appeals to corporations, institutions and individuals who share with Dr. Friesen and Friends of CIHR, a passionate desire for better public policy consensus around the potential health and economic opportunities and benefits to society that can flow from a thriving, wellsupported and well-managed public and private health research sector.

One important objective of The Prize is to elevate the level of public and stakeholder discussion above limited special interest views. The Prize endeavours to reach the broadest possible audience through public forums and institutional visits, and is committed to encouraging dialogue nationally, regionally, and locally.

In addition to the nationally broadcast Public Forum, prizewinners are expected to make subsequent presentations to other major institutions (universities, health research institutes, government agencies). Organization of these events is the responsibility of the hosting institution, coordinated through the Friesen Prize Advisory Committee. Topics for these presentations and scheduling of activities are negotiable with the prizewinner and are planned 12 to 18 months in advance.

Sponsorship of such activities at the local and regional level ensures opportunities for interaction between prizewinners and the broader academic, scientific, and health industry community.

The Public Forum for The Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research is presented in a different city each year to ensure all regions of Canada have the opportunity to benefit from hosting this important lecture event. To further enhance opportunities for attendance, the timing and location of the Public Forum is planned to coincide with other major gatherings of health research stakeholders.
