This represents a national extension of the Friesen International Prize Program, which supports one or more institutional visits to universities or research centres, in addition to the major celebration in the Fall season.

The 2008 Friesen Prize Laureate will participate in the 50th anniversary of the Gairdner 50th Anniversary Symposium: Celebrating Excellence in Medical Research.
